The 2022 season is up and running after another memorable afternoon at Madehurst.
The flags were flying and the crowd was in. The Ramblers, batting first after winning the toss, posted 170 in our 40 overs with a sweetly struck 60 from Stanners and an elegant 34 on debut from Jamie Hunt the headline acts, following useful groundwork from Alfie and Hendo. A word too for Matt Peck who showed a straight bat and icy composure on his first start.
After a fizzy tea the home side came out the traps fastest and were ahead of the rate early. Skipper bagged a couple to staunch the flow, but it was a temporary fix as the burly number 4 grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and blasted the ball to all parts. Leggie (2) hoped aboard the wicket train and with Hunty weaving a web at the other end we were in with a sniff, but Madehurst rode their luck and knocked off the remaining runs. A game played in the best of spirits and a more than decent effort from the Ramblers in our first run out. Bring on Elsted ??
Yellow Jersey: Stanners (60) (+ drop…)
